- Description
- The chapter employs data principally from the Australian Values Education Program, together with updated research from the field of educational neuroscience, to argue for holism in educational goal-setting. By holism is meant educational assumptions that incorporate the role of emotion, sociality and morality, as defined within, into our understanding of cognition. The conjunction of neural theory from neuroscience and practical evidence from the Australian Program points to the indispensability of such holism in achieving enhanced teacher practice and maximizing overall student wellbeing, including student academic achievement.
